More about project
Office complex "Verde" houses workspace created for a company that values flexibility, creation and maintenance of international partnerships. Sustainability also ranks high among the company’s core principles. These values played a key role in shaping the interior design of the office.
"Verde" is an A-class office complex located in the Skanste district of Riga. "It consists of two buildings. The first was completed in July 2022, while the second – where the office is based – was finished in May 2024. Within a short timeframe, the team of KRASSKY had to ensure an optimized process for product selection, ordering, and deliveries, allowing client to begin the working routine in the office as fast as possible.
The main goal in designing this office was to create a space where employees would want to return day after day and feel truly comfortable. The colour palette was inspired by the tonality of Latvian nature through its different seasons and locations. This idea is brought to life through materials with a distinct tactile and visual character, such as carpet tiles, metal, natural veneer, and raw concrete surfaces. Interplay of contrasts is also reflected in the furniture selection, where modern ergonomic office equipment is complemented by handcrafted pieces, such as wooden chairs in lounge areas, cabinets and front desk furniture.
In translation from several Southern European languages, the name of the office complex, "Verde", means green. This idea is also reflected in the interior design, incorporating eco-friendly, energy-efficient, and certified materials. As part of KRASSKY’s offer, each product and material was provided with a detailed specifications and quality certification, so that the customer was informed about the compliance of all products with sustainability principles.
Following the principles of classic open-office, this workspace does not have personally assigned desks, and is functionally designed to accommodate up to 200 employees. This decision aligns with the company's hybrid work model and frequent business travels. The collaboration between international branches is important, as the colleagues from other countries often visit the office in Riga. These dynamics are reflected in the inner layout and logistics of the space. Specially designated zones near the main entrance are created for welcoming international colleagues and partners. They include a meeting area, a lounge, a kitchen, and agile workstations.
The office features a mix of work environments, including standard workstations, video call booths, enclosed rooms for focus, spaces for group work, meeting rooms of various sizes, and an auditorium. Almost fully supplied by KRASSKY, lounge areas, an active recreation zone, and two fully equipped kitchens serve for recreation. The kitchens are furnished with durable, eco-friendly materials with high level of load durability. "FENIX NTM", a next-generation acrylic coating with silky-matted look is known for its exceptional durability and reparability in case of minor scratches. It was chosen for kitchen facades. The countertops are made from "MDi INALCO", a high-performance material composed of ultra-pure minerals fused at high temperatures, offering resistance to stains, chemicals, impacts, scratches, and heat. The kitchens include an ergonomic, integrated, and intuitively usable waste-sorting system with clear signage on the cabinetry.
To enhance both functionality and aesthetics, the office features acoustic curtains and custom-made blinds provided by KRASSKY. The acoustic curtains were made of fabrics by De Ploeg brand from Netherlands were selected for their longevity and functionality. They are especially tailored for public spaces, offices, and also often used in furniture production. The blinds were custom-made by MHZ, a German company that specializes in window shading solutions, creation of bespoke blinds and outdoor protection systems.
A standout feature of interior is the lighting concept. This project marks the Baltic debut of iGuzzini's "Organic Response" lighting system, which transforms the office into an environment that functions like a living organism. There are no traditional light switches, instead, human presence is detected via infrared signals and the lighting intensity is adjusted automatically when needed. Not only this system enhances well-being of the employees, but also reduces electricity consumption by 30% to 70%.
The furniture and materials for the various office areas were selected from prestigious brands, such as Object Carpet (carpet tiles); Götessons (poufs in the large kitchen); Inclass (tables, sofas, coffee tables, kitchen counter in conference rooms); Andreu World (lounge chairs); De Vorm ReFelt (acoustic wall panels); Gaggenau (kitchen appliances); Liebherr (refrigerator), Cesar (kitchen furniture), Lightnet (curved luminaires, functional lighting in workplaces, corridors, and lounge areas), Erco (lighting for paintings and boards), and others.
